The 60th Annual Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week is set to get underway.
Starting on Wednesday, the long-standing conference and trade show will return to the Elmwood Community Centre until Jan. 12 and feature six commodity days, these include beef, dairy, goat, sheep, horse, and crops days.
While there will be no ecological day, the event will have themes around sustainability.
Grey Ag Services Executive Director Lorie Smith recently joined Dave Carr on the Open Line on 89.3 CFOS FM to talk about the popular event.
“We really plan each day’s agenda to have timely information, key information of all the things that are happening and want them (attendees) to take home like two or three nuggets that they can actually implement on their farm. The whole thing is farmer driven and that is why we are so successful,” says Smith.
The event also includes several speakers and presentations ranging from an outlook on the beef market, improving dairy herd fertility, and using herding dogs on livestock.
Attendees will be able to connect with local agri-businesses, service providers and commodity organizations.
“It’s an amazing line up, we have so much support from sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, the volunteer base, the attendees. Everyone wants this to succeed, and succeed it’s doing,” says Smith.
For those who are not able to attend, a livestream option is available.
More details on the ticketed event can be found on the Grey Bruce Farmers’ Week website here.
