Grey Bruce OPP have charged one individual following a series of incidents on New Years Eve.
OPP Constable Kody Lyons says, on December 31st at about 11:40 a.m. they received a report from a homeowner who discovered someone had been inside their garage and damaged a vehicle cover.
While officers were on scene, at about 12:30 p.m., police received a second report that a white 2013 cargo van had been stolen from a nearby residence.
Officers immediately began patrolling the area and located the stolen vehicle at Main Street and Scotland Street in Grey Highlands.
OPP say person was spotted in the driver’s seat, and when approached, they fled on foot.
OPP say, after a brief foot chase they arrested the individual.
A 50 year old of no fixed address was charged with theft of a vehicle, mischief under $5,000, and theft over $5,000.
The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing on January 1, 2025, in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
