Some progress to report in the process to construct a new Grades 7 to 12 school in Kincardine.
The Bluewater District School Board confirmed the Ministry of Education has provided funding approval for the purchase of a 15.71-acre property in Kincardine, which will serve as the site for the new school.
The school board has not yet disclosed the location of the property they’ve selected.
“The landowner has submitted a severance application as board staff continue to work with the design team, consultants, and other partners to ensure the project continues to move forward in a timely and efficient manner,” the board says in a release.
The construction timeline for the new Grades 7 to 12 school in Kincardine — which will replace Kincardine District Senior School when built — also remains uncertain.
Five years ago, the Ministry of Education committed more than $26-million for a new school build in Kincardine.
The new two-storey school in Kincardine will be a replica design of John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover, the school board says.
