Markdale Hall is reopening in the new year following a fire over the summer.
The recreation complex will open its doors for gatherings, celebrations and programs starting Jan. 2.
The arena is currently being assessed as engineers determine next steps.
Grey Highlands Acting Director of Community Services Shawnette Duvall-Crouse says, “We’re excited to share that Markdale Hall will reopen for community events and rentals starting January 2nd. We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we recover from the fire, and we look forward to welcoming residents back to this important gathering space. The Centre Grey Recreation Complex remains a cornerstone of our community, and we’re committed to restoring all services as soon as possible.”
The fire in August was limited to the zamboni room at the rear of the arena, but the rest of the building suffered significant smoke damage.
