A special exhibition is coming to the Meaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre to celebrate the 25th anniversary of amalgamation.
Between Dec. 19 and Jan. 31, the exhibit will showcase the history of Meaford, the Township of St. Vincent, and the Township of Sydenham, which all united in 2001 to form the current Municipality of Meaford.
The exhibit will include historic photos and artifacts, interpretive panels on the identities and stories of 30 hamlets and villages, and archival materials reflecting Meaford’s evolution.
Mayor Ross Kentner says, “Our communities have deep and meaningful histories, and this exhibit honours the people and places that built the foundation of today’s Municipality of Meaford. As we mark the 25th Anniversary of Amalgamation, it’s important that we celebrate both our shared identity and the unique heritage of the Town of Meaford, St. Vincent, and Sydenham.”
The exhibit will be available at Meaford Hall before it travels around the municipality in 2026 in various community events.
The exhibit is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
