The City of Owen Sound is removing nearly 300 hazardous trees.
The city says the work will begin immediately by Mulmer Tree Services after a recent tree inventory identified several trees for removal as a result of structural defects and emerald ash borer damage.
“These trees present elevated risks to public safety and property,” the city says in a release.
Mulmer will begin the removal where able at this time, including ravines and areas with minimal impacts to residents and traffic.
Once the weather allows, crews will move onto neighbourhoods and higher-use areas.
Anyone living next to trees set to be removed will receive a direct notice from the contractor before the work begins.
