A boil water advisory has been issued for the town of Collingwood due to a water main break.
A large transmission pipe broke at the busy downtown intersection of Hume Street and Pretty River Parkway on Friday afternoon.
The health unit says municipal tap water is not safe to drink, so residents should boil it before drinking — or they can use bottled water.
Residents are also asked to conserve water. Bottled water distribution centres are operational for those unable to boil their water.
In addition, restaurants, bars and other places that serve prepared food will have to close until tests show the water is safe.
Repair work was completed as of 2:45 this morning, but the boil water advisory remains in place until the municipality is able to receive lab results back.
