
Emil Hemming scored twice and finished with four points, and Brad Gardiner also scored a pair as the Barrie Colts cruised past the Owen Sound Attack 6-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night at Sadlon Arena.
Justin Handsor and Joe Salandra also scored for Barrie (17-8-1-4), which won its fourth straight game.
Tristan Delisle had the lone goal for the Attack (17-13-0-2). It was Owen Sound’s first loss to Barrie this season, after winning the previous three meetings.
The Attack also took their first loss to an Eastern Conference opponent this season, falling to 9-1.
Barrie never trailed in the game. They led 2-1 after the first on goals from Hemming and Gardiner.
And then broke it open with a three-goal second period. Hemming would cap the game with the Colts’ fourth unanswered marker at 8:21 of the third.
Arvin Jaswal made 25 saves in the win, while Trenten Bennett stopped 39 taking the loss. The Colts outshot the Attack 45-26 while going 2 for 6 on the power play; Owen Sound did not have a power play in the game.
Owen Sound’s three-game road trip continues Friday night in Sudbury. It’s a 7 p.m. start between the Attack and Wolves on 89.3 CFOS FM.
