Bayshore Broadcasting’s 97.9 The Bruce is holding its annual Light The Way Radiothon for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Thursday.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., volunteers will be taking phone pledges at 519-832-GIVE (4483).
The money will go to the hospital foundation that mainly supports the Brightshores Health System hospital in Southampton. You can also donate online at smhfoundation.ca or drop into the radio station on Goderich Street in Port Elgin.
The goal this year is to raise $200,000 during the 12 hour radiothon for what the foundation describes as “unseen lifelines” that include the following:
PaceArt: Monitoring over 4,000 pacemaker and device appointments a year, giving reassurance and peace of mind close to home.
Oculys: Tracking every hospital bed in real time, helping patients move smoothly from one stage of care to the next.
Novari: Cutting scheduling time by up to 50%, so patients move more quickly from test to treatment.
PACS: Ensuring imaging is instantly available where it’s needed, saving precious time in emergencies.
Hospital equipment is not funded by government dollars.
