The Municipality of Kincardine is announcing an agreement extension with Bruce Power.
The agreement will see the continuation of Bruce Power using the W.E. Thompson School as a training centre by the power company through 2032.
Mayor Kenneth Craig said in a media release that the municipality appreciates the history of the W.E. Thompson site, and the partnership with Bruce Power to use the space to help support the nuclear sector.
The municipality also said that there are no current changes planned for the site, and because the new lease agreement runs until the end of 2032, the Municipality of Kincardine has several years to shape a community-driven vision for the downtown location.
They also said they’ll be working with Bruce Power to ensure a smooth and well-planned transition.
