A three-goal outburst midway through the third period set the Attack on their way.
Lenny Greenberg, Noah Nelson and Pierce Mbuyi scored in a span of 1:56 in the third period, breaking open a one-goal game as the Owen Sound Attack went on to beat the Erie Otters 6-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Easton Mikus, Caden Taylor and John Banks also scored for the Attack (17-11-0-2), which had a 3-0 lead early in the second period before Erie fought back. Taylor’s goal was his first with Owen Sound.
Michael Dec and Gabriel Frasca had the goals for the Otters (10-17-1-1). Frasca’s goal came 16 seconds in the third, and cut Owen Sound’s lead to 3-2 at the time.
The Attack made it back to back wins, and improved to 2-0 against Erie this season.
Carter George made 32 saves in the win, while Noah Erliden stopped 37 taking the loss. Charlie Burns made one save, coming on in relief for the last five minutes of the third.
Owen Sound outshot Erie 44-34 while going 1 for 5 on the power play; the Otters were 0 for 6.
The second leg of this back to back between Owen Sound and Erie at the Bayshore goes Saturday night at 7 p.m.
