The Municipality of Kincardine is starting the transition program for recycling collection after changes to the provincial blue box framework.
Changes include an expansion of what’s going to be accepted for household collection, including corrugated cardboard, frozen juice containers, and other household packaging.
Due to the expansion of which materials will be accepted from residential collection, convenience depots will no longer be supported or funded, meaning all public recycling depots within the Municipality of Kincardine will be closed permanently as of December 31, 2025 as they will no longer be needed.
The curbside program will now be operated by Waste Management Canada, based in Mount Forest, on behalf of the provincial producer organization, Circular Materials. Waste Management Canada will manage collection, processing, and customer service for residents.
Under the new provincial system, collection will no longer happen for businesses, farms, industrial sites, and institutions.
This means that the non-eligible properties will be offered drop-off recycling service at the Armow Waste Management Centre with dedicated expanded hours.
Non-Eligible Drop-off Hours:
– Regular Landfill Hours: Monday to Friday 9 am – 3 pm, Saturday 8 am – 12 pm.
– Dedicated expanded hours (non-eligible recycling only): Monday 3 pm – 6 pm, Thursday 7:15 am – 9 pm
A tipping fee of $1.65 per kilogram ($0.75 per pound) applies to all materials dropped off by non-eligible users. This fee supports bin rentals, transportation, and contamination management. To help keep costs and fees down, users are encouraged to ensure materials are clean and flattened wherever possible.
