Meaford is buying of a couple pieces of land for nearly $3.7 million.
Council approved the purchase of two pieces of land along Highway 26 and Grey Road 7 during a meeting on Monday for future use.
Both pieces add up to over 26 acres of vacant industrial unserviced land.

This comes as municipal management has been focusing on developing a strategy for Meaford to establish a land inventory for a range of opportunities, including potential commercial and industrial uses.
Deputy Mayor Shirley Keaveney says, “We have been talking for years about our lack of available industrial land and now we are going to have a substantial amount of it.”
She adds the municipality as lost out on new businesses looking to set up shop in Meaford because there was no land available.
Coun. Harley Greenfield says, “This presently, and in the past has been just unused land, unused properties, it has just been sitting there on the southeastern edge of our urban area and there needs to be some action there.”
