The third annual Owen Sound Hockey Fest is hitting the ice this week.
The three-day event begins on Thursday when Grey Highlands Secondary School takes on Owen Sound District Secondary School at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
The girls will be playing at 10:30 a.m. before the boys take the ice at 12:30 p.m.
The next day, the Waterloo Warriors Women’s hockey team will be visiting Keppel Sarawak School, Hillcrest Elementary School, and East Ridge Community School before free on-ice clinics are held for players, referees, and time keepers.
Hockey Fest will wrap up on Saturday with the University of Waterloo Warriors taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues at the Bayshore at 2 p.m.
Owen Sound will also be ushering in the holiday season that evening with the Kiwanis Santa Claus Parade starting at 5 p.m.
The festival of Northern Lights will follow at 7 p.m.
Between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., organized ball hockey games will be held in memory of Josh Olynyk, a former Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group player who passed away from cancer in 2009.
