Bruce County council has given its endorsement for an updated list of policy agenda priorities for the county.
A report was delivered to council from Government Relations Director Jeff Loney.
The priorities identified in the report include court security funding, energy project framework, municipal spending on healthcare, advocacy for childcare space flexibility, advancing homelessness supports within Bruce County, and funding for agricultural waste reduction and biogas development.
At the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference, Bruce County worked to advance priorities identified in a previous report, including successful advocacy for the inclusion of upper-tier Community Improvement Plan (CIP) authority in Bill 60.
While the updated priorities will be included in requests during the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference, staff will also seek opportunities to advance these topics with both Provincial and Federal decision makers in other forums.
The county’s Government Relations team conducts a semi-annual review of the advocacy priorities to ensure relevant and timely advocacy is undertaken.
These priorities are reviewed to ensure alignment with local needs and with local municipalities and partner organizations.
