The Owen Sound Attack and Erie Otters have made a trade.
The Attack announced Friday morning the acquisition of forward Wesley Royston, 17, in exchange for forward Michael Dec, 18.
“We are very excited to bring a player like Wesley Royston into the mix and while it’s not easy giving up a player like Michael Dec, in order to get a player like Wesley that’s what was needed,” Attack General Manager Dale DeGray says in a release from the team. “When we look at our group, I think we were lacking some size up front and certainly filled that hole with the ability to bring Wesley in.”
“Wesley is a big strong power forward that can add to the offence and create space for his teammates,” DeGray adds.
A 6-foot-4, 190-pound winger, Royston has two goals, an assist and 22 penalty minutes in 13 games for the Otters this season. He was a second-round pick, 24th overall, in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.
Dec had three goals and 12 assists — 15 points — in 16 games for the Attack this season.
Royston is expected to make his Attack debut Saturday when the Sudbury Wolves are in town. And Dec won’t have to wait long to make his return to the Bayshore — Erie Otters visit on Sunday afternoon.
