Owen Sound Police is receiving over $647,000 in funding from a provincial grant.
The funding from the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General’s Community Safety and Policing Grant is divided up into two streams.
The first stream will assist Owen Sound Police’s Part Time Officer Enhancement Initiative which provides funding for part time police officers to assist with traffic enforcement and calls during peak volume periods.
The second stream will fund the Owen Sound Police’s Community Oriented Response and Enforcement Unit, which allows for two officers to be assigned to proactive policing initiatives geared towards community safety.
This funding will allow these programs to continue over the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Police Chief Craig Ambrose says, “We are very grateful to the Ministry of the Solicitor General for recognizing and making possible the Owen Sound Police Service’s efforts to enhance our proactive response capabilities to better serve our community’s public safety needs.”
