West Grey is making emergency roof repairs to the Neustadt Library.
Council approved the repairs during a meeting on Tuesday after earlier this year when the library sustained considerable damage from an ice storm.
CAO Michele Harris says following the ice storm, staff conducted some remedial repairs to the rood to address the immediate damage, but the larger issues including leaking persist..
“The damage and repairs required as a result of the ice storm need to be completed in order to maintain the integrity of the building, with the urgent priority being the roof repair prior to the commencement of winter weather for the 2025/26 season,” says Harris in a report.
Municipal staff received cost estimates to complete the repair work, which include over $14,000 to repair the roof, over $9,000 to repair the interior room, and over $15,000 to to address the soffit.
Council approved having staff engage a contractor to undertake the immediate roof repairs with an upset limit of $16,000.
Staff recommend including the funding for the other repairs in the 2026 budget.
