Giant vegetable growers from around Ontario and beyond will be in Port Elgin this weekend to see whose pumpkin is the biggest.
Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest is set to go October 4th and 5th, with a few things on the 3rd as well.
It’s a big celebration with lots of different activities including a car show, midway with carnival games and rides, vendor’s market, live music and a ‘pub-kin crawl.’
The midway will have rides running from 5 to 10p.m. on Friday and Saturday night.
Live music and entertainment through the weekend includes the Celtic Academy Dance Showcase, Amber May, Riverbend Gentlemen, Amazing Andy Magic Show, Johnny & the Appleseeds, The Sapsuckers, Grey Road One, Good Enough LIVE Karaoke, and more.
The 2025 OLG Cinderella’s Carriage Car Show is back with all kinds of classic cars on display in the heart of downtown.
There are free pony rides and farm animals from Glendale Farms, a junior firefighters obstacle course, face painting, a Port Elgin Rotary pumpkin pie sale, a Lion’s Club BBQ and mega bingo, giant pumpkin carving, the Giant Tiger Kiddie Carnival has activities for younger kids and comedy Ventriloquist Michael Harrison will perform on October 4 at 4:30 p.m.
There will be a giant block building area at the OPG tent, and kids are encouraged to bring anything they’ve grown to the Sunday weigh-off.
There are giant vegetable weigh offs on Saturday and Sunday. The massive pumpkins are the big attraction, but there are also giant sunflowers, watermelons, cabbages, tomatoes, corn stalks and others.
The pub-kin crawl includes a shuttle between Port Elgin and Southampton from 7 p.m. to midnight.
