Blue Mountain Resort is getting ready for the upcoming winter season with new upgrades around the resort.
Public Relations Manager Tara Lovell says that the forecast is looking good for the winter, plus they have completed upgrades for their snowmaking and grooming operations.
“We’re expecting another great winter season, like a proper winter for skiers and riders, so we’re looking forward to more snowfall once again, something we would consider a typical season for this area of Southern Georgian Bay.”
For those who want some indoor activities, the resort has also made upgrades to the Plunge! Aquatic Centre.
“It is a four-season aquatic experience that we have here. It’s got heated pools, including an action pool, a splash are that’s indoors, but it is an indoor-outdoor facility,” explained Lovell. “You can swim inside as well as outside, even in the wintertime. It’s kind of a cool place to experience when you’ve been in your snowsuit all day and then go into your bathing suit and hop in at Plunge!”
The upgrades to the aquatic centre is an investment of $166,000, which was provided through a partnership between the Village Association and funding from the Province of Ontario.
For those who want to enjoy other athletic pursuits, kids and adults alike can take part in the Canopy Climb, which has a new extension so climbers can do a full loop above the bottom of the ski slopes, and watch skiers and snowboarders from above.
There are also a wide range of dining options, and shopping to upgrade your gear.
“Across the mountain we have mountainside dining options, and base lodges. It’s great to go inside and make sure you have somewhere warm to get your boots on and get ready or to just jump in and get a hot drink or take a bit of a break,” shared Lovell.
Improvements have been made to the south base parking, including the planting of native trees and shrubs, as well as eco-friendly lane dividers.
Now that everything’s in place and ready for the 2025-2026 season, all that’s left to do is wait.
“We typically open around here in mid-December, that’s like a typical opening date here at Blue. And that gives us some time to really ramp up the operations so that we can be as open as possible when it comes to available terrain for ski and snowboarding for the Christmas season. It is a very busy time here around the resort,” she said.
The holiday season will feature their Holiday Magic event, with a festive lit-up walking path to get you into the festive spirit.
There are also events with live music and events.
The Early Bird pricing for their 5×7 pass is on now, and ends October 16th.
