Ontario’s police watchdog has cleared a Collingwood OPP officer who shot a man during a confrontation on Rhonda Road in May.
The SIU says the 50-year-old man splashed gasoline on the officer, and then fired a flare gun.
One officer opened fire, hitting the man in the torso.
He survived and faces several charges, including assaulting an officer with a weapon.
The SIU ruled the officer acted to protect herself and others from an imminent attack.
