The United Way of Perth-Huron is looking to raise $2,529,770 in their 2025-26 fundraising campaign.
The annual fundraising campaign launched this week across Huron and Perth counties, with the focus on a shortage of housing, and homelessness.
Altogether, the United Way of Perth-Huron supports more than forty social programs.
Mental health and food insecurity continue to be areas of focus for the United Way.
Officials with the organization say they the trade war with the U.S. has exacerbated affordability issues across the country, including Huron and Perth counties.
The latest report from Food Banks Canada says a quarter of Canadians are currently experiencing food insecurity.
Several cities have declared food insecurity emergencies, including Orillia, Toronto, Kingston, Smiths Falls, Cochrane and Brockville.
