Keystone Child, Youth and Family Services has set up a satellite office at the Hanover of District Hospital.
Keystone Director of Programs and Services Stephen Hendriks says the new office aims to bring services closer to areas in need.
“This is part of an overall push within our entire organization to really try and get a greater presence within all regions of the county and trying to be accessible,” says Hendriks. “It just seemed like at natural fit to start speaking with hospitals about youth that wind up there in crisis or in greater need and being able to service them as fast as we can.”
The new office will be offering several of the organization’s services to the patients of the Hanover and District Hospital.
“Aside from our intensive treatment services in our live-in treatment program which is location bound in Owen Sound, our full range. We are looking at everything from short-term counselling, therapy services, to our slightly longer term therapy, group services, education classes either done virtually or in person depending on need. We are trying to work on a new crisis model for us that it can actually have a greater response time within every region as well as some of our intake services being located in regions,” says Hendriks.
Hanover and District Hospital President and CEO Dana Howes adds, “This collaboration is an excellent example of health system partnership that ensures that services for children, youth and their families will have access to the care that they need as close to home as possible.”
The Hanover Hospital is the first satellite office Keystone has opened, and plans to put in more at hospitals across the region.
