A Hanover man has won nearly $100,000 playing the lottery.
Andrew Harron won the second prize worth $99,641 in the July 5, 2025 Lotto 6/49 draw.
Harron, a delivery driver, has been a lottery player with OLG for over 30 years, playing Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, always adding Encore to his tickets.
Harron says in a statement, “I decided to buy my tickets prior to leaving for vacation, while fueling up the car,” he recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his winnings. He says he waited about a week after the draw before checking his tickets.
“They were just sitting in my wallet,” he explains, adding, “I was waiting to go play golf with my son when I scanned this ticket using the OLG app on my phone. When I saw the prize amount, I was surprised. I initially thought I’d won $99, but then I noticed the words ‘Big Winner.'”
To be certain, he asked his wife to double-check his ticket on her phone. “She saw the same ‘Big Winner’ message and was in shock. I checked the numbers again, and that’s when I realized I’d won the second prize!” says Harron.
He went on to share the amazing news with his son and boss. “My son was so excited and happy for me,” he said with a smile. “My boss asked if I was retiring.”
Harron plans to put his winnings toward retirement and looks forward to spending more time on the golf course. “Winning is a great feeling,” he concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Canadian Tire Gas+ on 10th Street in Hanover.
