The Town of Wasaga Beach is welcoming its second family physician to town in less than two years.
In a statement on its website, Mayor Brian Smith credits proactive recruitment by the town by topping up the family physician incentive program and re-opening the Wasaga Beach Medical Centre and After-Hours Clinic.
With a population of 25,000 set to double by 2051, the Ministry of Health considers Wasaga Beach an area of high physician need.
The new doctor is already working out of the town-operated clinic on Beck Street in Wasaga Beach.
Smith also noted that now about 2000 residents who don’t have a family doctor have access to one close to home.
