The Owen Sound Transportation Company is warning about a scam that impersonates the website for its ferry services.
Locally, the company operates the Chi-Cheemaun, which ferries passengers and their vehicles from Tobermory to South Baymouth Manitoulin Island.
They say, “A fake website, www.ontarioferries.org, is currently impersonating our organization. This website is not affiliated with the Owen Sound Transportation Company (OSTC) or our ferry services.”
They say, “Any information or services found on it are not official or legitimate,” and add, “Do not use this fake website for any purpose, including booking ferry services or providing personal or financial information.”
They say if you encounter the website, don’t click any links or enter any personal details or financial information.
They add, if you made a reservation through the fake website, you have not booked with OSTC.
