The first phase of planning for Bruce Power’s Bruce C expansion project has been completed, and marks the start of the next phase of the project.
On August 19th, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission issued their notice of commencement of impact assessment for the proposed project, which begins the next phase of the process.
The planning phase is the first of five phases of the Impact Assessment process, along with the development of the impact statement, and is accompanied by tailored impact statement guidelines.
Additional time was added to the first phase of the Impact Assessment process in order to give more time to consult with Indigenous Communities, as well as get feedback from municipalities and residents.
In a media release, the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Bruce C, Weina Chong, said that the Bruce C expansion represents an opportunity to support Ontario’s clean energy future.
