West Grey Police have charged a man with several offences after he allegedly fought with officers during an arrest.
Police say they responded to a public intoxication call last Friday, and the man became uncooperative when detained.
West Grey Police say the accused kicked in the partition window while in the back of the police cruiser, and then tried to remove a patrol rifle from its mount.
“Officers were able to gain control of the accused, removing him from the vehicle. He continued to resist, physically fighting with officers and biting them multiple times … a search of the accused’s belongings led to the seizure of ammunition, brass knuckles, and a spring-assisted knife, ” West Grey Police say in a release.
Police say the man was transported to Hanover Hospital for assessment, where he remains under police custody.
He faces a list of charges including several weapons offences.
