The Long Dock Pavilion in Southampton has been closed and will be removed.
It’s a picnic shelter near Front St South and Beach Road, not far from Gerry’s Fast Food.
Town of Saugeen Shores staff say it will be removed in the coming weeks, following a structural assessment that deemed it unsafe to keep using.
The pavilion was originally due for roof replacement as part of the 2025 Business Plan. However, initial work raised concerns over extensive internal damage. Work was halted and a structural assessment has since confirmed the damage is beyond feasible repair.
To prevent further deterioration and to protect both the public and surrounding area, the pavilion has been closed and will be removed promptly.
The Town says in a statement it recognizes the Long Dock Pavilion is an important and much-loved part of the Southampton Beach and community.
They say a plan for replacement will be brought forward to Council as part of the 2026 business plan and budget.
