A group that looks for missing people is appealing for tips in a cold case.
Please Bring Me Home says, July 20th, 2025, marks 30 years since the disappearance of Simon ‘Kirk’ Weidemann and Erwyn Cecil Rody Lippett.
Kirk and Erwyn were last seen on the evening of July 20th, 1995, while camping at the Brucedale Conservation Area.
According to reports, the two men went for a canoe ride at about 8 p.m. and never returned.
At the time, Erwyn was 24 years old and living in Wiarton, while Kirk was 25 and living in Owen Sound.
The day following their disappearance, law enforcement conducted a search of the shoreline; and the pair’s partially submerged canoe was discovered off the coast of Saugeen Shores.
Please Bring Me Home Co-founder Nick Oldrieve says, along with the canoe, two paddles and two life jackets were recovered, but no trace of either man was ever found.
A renewed search effort was undertaken in July 2024 by Please Bring Me Home and family members. Now adults with children of their own, Victoria Weidemann and Anthony Lippett (the children of Kirk and Erwyn) are still seeking answers and closure.
They reached out to Please Bring Me Home to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Through the group’s efforts, there have been reports of possible sightings of at least one of the men on three separate occasions.
These include a claim that Erwyn’s first partner, Andrea, spoke with him in February following his disappearance, an anonymous tip submitted to investigators, and a recollection from Victoria that both men were allegedly seen in Port Elgin the day after they vanished.
The family has remained cooperative and committed throughout the investigation. Victoria and Anthony have even provided DNA samples to aid in the search, which are currently being analyzed by Please Bring Me Home.
