One person was injured in a crash in Owen Sound this morning.
Police say, just before 9:30 a.m. officers, Owen Sound firefighters and Grey County paramedics responded to the intersection of 16th Street and 16th Avenue East (the intersection by Canadian Tire and Boston Pizza) after a two-vehicle collision.
The driver of a Hyundai Tuscon, a 30 year-old Owen Sound woman, was taken by ambulance to Brightshores Hospital where she was treated for non-life- threatening injuries.
Both vehicles involved in the collision sustained substantial damage and had to be towed from the scene.
The investigation determined that the driver of a 2002 Ford Thunderbird failed to stop for a red light while travelling Eastbound on 16th Street East and struck the Hyundai Tucson that was proceeding southbound through the intersection.
The intersection was closed by police for approximately 45 minutes to safely treat the injured driver, investigate the cause of the collision and remove the vehicles
The driver of the Ford Thunderbird was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to stop for a red light.
