The Lighthouse Blues Festival is set to go all weekend in Kincardine.
The three day festival starts tonight at 4 p.m. with a land acknowledgement ceremony, followed by six different artists and bands performing.
“It’s a great weekend, a lot of work goes into it and we’re getting more and more people coming out. Our ticket sales are better than last year even so we’re happy about that. It’s just a great little festival,” says Director at The Lighthouse Blues Festival, Marilyn Clarke.
Clarke added that while the festival is smaller in comparison to others across the province, they continue to be successful and have attendee’s coming all the way from the U.S.
“One that I really think people are really going to enjoy– well two, Annika Chambers and Paul DesLauriers are from the States and we’re really looking forward to seeing them. They’re a dynamite act, and we have Davy Knowles who is originally from the United Kingdom and is now located in the States and he’s just an awesome performer,” says Clarke. “As a matter of fact he’s so well known and liked that we have a couple coming from Missouri, I believe. They’re making the drive up to Kincardine for the Saturday night, staying over just to hear Davy Knowles.”
Named one of the Top 100 Festival and Event in Ontario by Festivals and Events Ontario, Clarke says there is no bad seat and encourages people to go out and enjoy.
“If you have preconceived notions about the blues they will be changed. Blues music goes from traditional to the old southern style, all the way to the a real rock style. It’s great music, great singing, great guitar work, it’s something I think you should come out and try. If you don’t want to come for that, come for the street festival, bring your kids for the children’s zone and you can listen to five different stages and that’s all free.”
Some activities are free, like the street festival during the day on Saturday others require tickets. More information can be found on their website.
