Owen Sound’s River District is set to come alive this weekend with the annual Hottest Street Sale event.
River District Community Services Department Coordinator Viveca Gravel says the event will hit the downtown area on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. along 2nd Avenue East.
“This year’s event is going to be bigger and better than ever. We have over 200 places for people to eat and shop within the River District, supporting all sorts of small businesses which we all know is really important now more than ever,” says Gravel.
The annual event will include shopping, a family fun zone, music, activities, displays, food, entertainment, a community stage, and demonstrations.
Gravel adds the touch a truck will make its return for children to explore and learn about big rigs, as well as inflatable games.
Owen Sound Police will also be set up to offer fun games for kids.
The community stage will feature local musicians coming to Summerfolk, as well as those who took part in the Youth Discoveries concert and Banditfest.
Gravel says the event comes as the community has stepped up in support of local businesses.
“If every single vendor brought 10 people, we would have an outstanding event and everybody would feel supported,” says Gravel. “The vendors are all excited, they love coming out to this event. It has been running for over 30 years, they all find it prosperous for themselves and it is just a great way to meet your community of small business owners.”
