South Bruce OPP say a false crime report has resulted in charges in Kincardine.
On June 14, police say officers received a report of an alleged assault at a business in Kincardine.
When officers arrived to take information, the complainant alleged it was assaulted by a store employee. An investigation using security camera footage, however, showed an assault never happened and the complainant stole from the business.
As a result, the 22-year-old accused from Kincardine is charged with public mischief and theft under $5,000.
The accused is set to appear in court in Walkerton next month.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-8000-222-8477.
