Meaford is appointing a new Fire Chief.
Acting Fire Chief Rob Pilon was appointed to the role during a council meeting on Monday.
Pilon has been with the Meaford Fire Department over 20 years and has assumed several roles, including Fire Prevention/Training Officer and Lieutenant Firefighter/Training Coordinator.
CAO Shawn Everitt says in a report, “Management is extremely happy to have had the opportunity to go through a fulsome competitive recruitment process and to have Mr. Pilon take an interest in taking part of the process and being the successful candidate through the formal process.”
This comes after the Deputy Chief position, which Pilon held since January, 2024, has been vacant after he took on the Acting Fire Chief role.
The municipality will be moving forward with the recruitment process to fill the Deputy Fire Chief position and have a full fire service by the end of the third quarter this year.
