The Lucknow and District Kinette Club is providing a $15,000 donation to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation.
Foundation Executive Director Nicole Duquette-Jutzi says they received the donation last week in support of its Oncology Clinic.
“The Lucknow Kinette Club has two members who are receiving treatment here at the Wingham and District Hospital. Tracey Simpson and Nat McDonaugh have both been dedicated members of the Kinette Club for a long time and enthusiastic participants and community members. In honour of them, they hosted a lively duelling piano event back in May and collectively raised $15,000, which they have generously put towards the Oncology program here in Wingham,” says Duquette-Jutzi.
She adds the money raised will go towards purchasing new chairs for the Oncology Unit.
“We are looking to upgrade several of the patient chairs in the Oncology department right now, so that donation of $15,000 will certainly go a long way to getting some refreshed and comfortable chairs for the people who need it the most,” says Duquette-Jutzi.
The update to the Oncology Unit comes following a renovation at the department about seven years ago.
“Now seven years has passed and things have started, like the chairs to just have some regular wear and tear, so we’ll probably see the need increasing in that area as we go forward,” says Duquette-Jutzi.
The donation was made as McDonaugh is also celebrating the end of her treatment and returned to the hospital with Simpson to ring the ceremonial bell.
“It’s a wonderful part of my job to be able to facilitate these generous gifts and to be part of such special moments with Nat and Tracey is wonderful. It will certainly go a long way and benefit many more people beyond the legacy that the Kinette’s have created here at the hospital,” says Duquette-Jutzi.
