YWCA Muskoka is thrilled to announce a generous $15,000 donation from the Silver Slicers ‘Boost-a-Cause’ Golf Tournament, providing vital support for summer camps and fall programs for youth across the region.
For four years this partnership has helped ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation for local girls and young people. This year’s donation directly funds full subsidies for YWCA’s Girlz Unplugged Summer Camps, ensuring girls in Muskoka can take part in an empowering, connection-filled summer they may not otherwise have access to.
“Supporting this type of fabulous youth programming has been one of our main tenets since our inception, and we are proud to be associated in some small way to lend a helping hand,” said Tournament Chairman, Darren Growen.
In addition to supporting summer programs, this donation will also allow YWCA Muskoka to offer more school-based youth programs this Fall, which focus on healthy relationships, leadership, and preventing gender-based violence.
Many parents receiving full subsidies shared how much this opportunity means for their children:
“Because of this subsidy, my daughter is able to enjoy the summer with friends. Without this support, we might not have been able to send her to any kind of camp this year.”
“Because of this subsidy, my daughter is able to attend a camp that would otherwise be out of the question. She can be a kid, worry free. As a mom, who’s a survivor of domestic abuse, her worry free kid life is all that matters. This allows her to not be impacted by choices made by others and enjoy herself!”
YWCA Muskoka’s youth programs continue to grow thanks to the commitment of local supporters like Silver Slicers Boost a Cause. Their contributions have funded critical community programming for the past four years and their investment continues to make a lasting impact.
