The annual McDonald’s McHappy Day raised nearly $31,000 for Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound.
Brightshores Owen Sound Foundation CEO Amy McKinnon says McDonald’s Owner Operator Steve and Christine Sgro, along with McDonald’s staff, presented the cheque on June 3 following the event last month.
“We are so excited that we partnered with the local McDonald’s this year, they contributed over $30,000 to the Women and Child Care program here at Brightshores in Owen Sound,” says McKinnon.
The McDonald’s in Owen Sound, Port Elgin and Meaford all participated in the McHappy Day event, where a portion of the sales that day went to Brightshores.
McKinnon says the funds will have a large impact on the delivery of the Women and Child Care Unit at Brightshores.
“The government doesn’t support the purchase of new equipment into our local hospitals, so we really rely on the community, places like McDonald’s to help raise the funds and all the people who went into McDonald’s on McHappy Day who purchased a meal that day, they are making great things possible,” says McKinnon.
McKinnon says the funds will assist in purchasing a Gildescope, Bubble CPAP and Airvo 3 Kit for the Women and Child Care Unit.
“There is always needs at the Women and Child Care Unit and all of our programs here at Brightshores and we are happy to have people make their donations to areas which mean the most to them,” says McKinnon.
