The City of Owen Sound is launching a new online and smartphone tool to assist residents sort their waste and use the new green bin program.
The new What Goes Where tool on the city website can identify how certain materials, like styrofoam, can be disposed off, which also includes drop-off locations and collection requirements.
Additionally, the smartphone app Recycle Coach is available for download to show where various household waste items can be disposed off.
“Whether you’re trying to figure out what goes in the green bin, where to take old paint, or when your next collection day is, Recycle Coach puts that information at your fingertips,” says the city in a release.
This comes following the launch of the city’s new green bin program.
Since the launch of the new service this month, the city says in a release, about 7,800 residential units in Owen Sound have received green bins and kitchen catchers, and 23.55 tonnes of organic waste has been collected.
The online tool can be found on the city’s website here, while the Recycle Coach app can be found on the App Store or Google Play.
