Collingwood Fire Department will be able to purchase a new and needed fire/rescue truck despite an unexpected cost increase.
Council approved the expenditure for this year for 1.4 million – however the price went up to over 1.7 million. Supply chain issues have been cited as the main cause.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Emo, the difference of over $323,000 has been off-set by a prepayment discount of $103,000.
Council approved the expenditure this week.
Deputy Chief Stephen Emo says the department is hoping to take delivery in just over 2 years – and the price is secure now that a contract has been signed.
