Bruce Power and its partners are donating $500,000 towards a new MRI machine at Kincardine hospital.
The announcement by James Scongack, the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President, originally came during a break at Rock With Your Docs over the weekend.
Bruce Power previously committed $1.5 million to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation to support its redevelopment campaign.
The additional $500,000 is being committed by the power company’s supplier partners.
The Kincardine Hospital Redevelopment Capital Campaign, called Building Health Care for Generations, started with the goal of $18 million, and has raised more than $10 million to date.
Phase 1 of the project will modernize and expand the emergency department, improve diagnostic imaging, as well as strengthen outpatient laboratory and create a new decontamination room to help serve the nuclear industry’s emergency preparedness program.
Bruce Power has also given $450,000 to the municipalities of Kincardine and Saugeen Shores over three years to support emergency room availability.
