Arran-Elderslie says it’s making it easier to access its public pools this summer.
The municipality is introducing one free public swim per week at the Chesley Community Pool and the Tara Rotary Pool.
It’s also launching of a season pool pass sign-out program through the Paisley Library.
Beginning this summer, free public swims will be offered Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Chesley, and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Tara.
The municipality says these evenings were selected based on a review of 2024 attendance data to best accommodate community interest.
They add, in partnership with the Bruce County Public Library, ten season passes will be available at the Paisley Library branch. You can borrow the passes and return them as you would other library materials.
Arran-Elderslie says this initiative is aimed at increasing access for individuals who may face financial or transportation barriers.
Mayor Steve Hammell says in a statement, “It’s important to us that families across Arran-Elderslie have opportunities to cool off and enjoy quality time together. Offering free swims and easy-to-access passes through the library helps ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy the Chesley and Tara pools this summer.”
The Chesley Community Pool and Tara Rotary Pool are open starting at the end of June for public swimming throughout the week, including select weekend times.
In addition to public swims, both pools offer children’s swimming lessons, aquafit classes, and other active programs for all ages.
