The Town of Mono is upping its water rate.
During its latest meeting, council was presented with the 2025 Water Financial Plan and Rate Study.
The study suggests a monthly base charge to increase from $5.13 to $25 effective July.
However, there would be no increase to the per cubic metre water rate.
According to the report, the rate change would increase total annual water billing by 13.2 per cent for the next 5 years starting January 1, 2026.
Council believes that although the new rates are significant, it would help with the towns ability to adhere to regulations and to continue providing safe drinking water to its residents.
Therefore, council decided to pass the 2025 Water Rate Bylaw Amendment.
