A new project has been announced that will increase Shelburne’s water supply over the next 20 years,
S. Burnett & Associates (SBA) worked with the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) who recommended that pumping wells seven and eight should be pumped concurrently to help meet the demands.
They also recommended that the town should start to design and install an “arsenic treatment” at pump wells five and six to allow pumping at a higher rate.
The EA says the arsenic treatment will allow pump wells five and six to operate without depending on blending water from pumping wells seven and eight.
They added that it will increase the systems resilience if supply from pump seven and eight was disrupted.
With these improvements and upgrades to pumping wells one and two that are still ongoing, the town is expected “to have enough water supply capacity to meet average and daily day demand until 2038,”.
They recommend starting this project no later than 2033.
