Barrie Police are looking for two people who brazenly targeted a senior yesterday and stole a $4500 dollar gold chain…one that also had enormous sentimental value.
The pair watched the man, who is a Wasaga Beach resident, load purhases from a big box store on East Mapleview in Barrie into his vehicle. A female quickly placed a gold chain around his neck and pushed two gold rings onto his fingers.
The senior did not want these items and as she was removing them, she took a real gold chain he was wearing that had a dolphin pendant on it, leaving behind what was later determined to be a fake gold chain.
She was accompanied by a man who was driving the getaway car.
The Barrie Police Service is warning the community to be wary of strangers who approach quickly and try to distract.
The entire incident is on surveillance video and police are continuing their investigation.
