Bayshore Broadcasting’s 97.9 The Bruce (91.9 on the peninsula) is holding a radiothon to raise money for local hospitals in Lion’s Head and Wiarton.
The first annual Checkerboard Challenge is on Friday, June 20th from 10 a.m. to 6p.m.
Morning show hosts Longy and Bruffer are encouraging the community to take time to donate, and “givER for healthcare.”
“We want people to donate then challenge others to match or beat their donations,” says host Brian Longmire.
Longy and Bruffer will be at The Shops at 84 Main in downtown Lion’s Head. There will also be volunteers at local grocery stores: Fretz’s Value mart (Sauble Beach), Wiarton Foodland, Hellyer’s Foodland (Lion’s Head) and Peacock’s Foodland (Tobermory). Debit and credit will be available for donations.
The Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation says on its website, “We strive to provide our physicians, nurses and technologists with the best equipment to diagnose and treat patients. Medical equipment and technology is constantly changing and improving. With this ongoing challenge our mission is to assist in meeting the health care needs of the people of the Bruce Peninsula area by raising funds for priority hospital projects to keep our hospitals current.”
