An assorted goods store in downtown Owen Sound is out about $10,000 worth of merchandise following a theft.
Owner of Zong Vaporizer and Smoke Shop Asif Khan says his store on 9th Street East was broken into early Sunday morning.
“They smashed the door that morning at 3:45 a.m. and the thief was there in my shop around 5:40 a.m. For two hours they (were) stealing things from the shop,” says Khan.
He was alerted to the break in around 8 a.m. when a friend told him Owen Sound Police was looking to get in contact.
“When I talked to police, they said to come over to the shop. And when I was there, the front door was broken … the thief stole many things,” says Khan.
He says some of the items stolen from the store include laptops, cell phones, e-bikes, and currency. Khan claims the estimated combined value of the goods stolen is around $10,000.
CCTV footage of the incident shows a man in a red shirt entering the store, throwing items on the ground and stealing others.
Owen Sound Police Chief Craig Ambrose says in an email he is aware of the break and enter. He encourages anyone with information to contact Owen Sound Police at 519-376-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
