West Grey is awarding a nearly $294,000 contract to design and build a new bridge in Normanby.
Council approved awarding a tender to McLean Taylor during its meeting on Tuesday after the bridge was closed last September.
The bridge on Concession 16 was closed due to concerns with the condition of the deck.
In May council considered either doing nothing, rehabilitating the bridge, or replacing the structure. Council ended up issuing a tender to rehabilitate.
The nearly $294,000 contract falls within the $300,000 budgeted for the project.
Director of Infrastructure and Public Works Geoff Aitken estimates the project to wrap up before the start of the next winter control season.
