The annual Paisley Blues Festival is set to go this weekend.
Festival President Zach Parker says the popular music festival will be held at the Paisley Community Centre on June 6 and 7.
“It’s an indoor event so we don’t have to worry about the weather and it is a great blues lineup,” says Parker. “Every year, this festival brings people together-locals, music lovers, and touring artists alike.”
He says the bands this weekend include The Vaudevillain, The Smoke Wagon Blues Band, Mackenzie Blues, Johnny Max and more.
“There is a lot of great local talent in Grey and Bruce, which when I first started getting involved with the festival, it kind of surprised me that a lot of the bands I was seeing had some roots or connection to this area,” says Parker. “I think a lot of people look forward to it. There is a lot of people really into the blues in this area and there is a good community that supports us.”
He adds there will be various food trucks and giveaways at the event.
As a registered charity, Parker says all the proceeds from the event will go back into the community.
“This year, our focus was to work with the Paisley Community Advancement Committee who are looking to install a new playground,” says Parker.
The funds will also go to the Paisley Central School’s music program.
“We also usually donate and fund the Grade Eight Music Award at their graduation every year,” says Parker.
Attendees can donate upon entry.
