The Municipality of Arran-Elderslie is holding a Goods Exchange Day event this weekend.
On Saturday, residents are encouraged to place unwanted, but still usable household items on the curb or at the end of the driveway for others in the community to take and reuse.
Some items residents can leave out include furniture, clothing, books, tools, sporting goods, toys, doors, windows, and sinks.
To help easily identify which items are available for pickup, the municipality asks residents to put up a “Free” sign.
Any items not taken by the end of the day remain the property owner’s responsibility as leftover goods will not be collected by municipal staff.
“Goods Exchange Day is a great opportunity to give old items new life while helping your neighbours and reducing landfill waste,” says the municipality in a release.
